| Time Billing & ERP Practice Management System for Solicitors
English Solicitor: Litigation practice with increasing property work
Background
All professional firms have one thing in common and that is that they have no physical stock to sell. They sell their employees' time in one form or another.
It has long been recognised by these firms that in order to improve their efficiency, they must record the time spent (and expenses paid out) on each project/job/case accurately and efficiently. Thereafter the information must be translated into an invoice in order for payment to be received. Naturally the quicker the invoice is sent the sooner the firm gets paid, particularly if the invoice is clear and concise.
Benefits
One of the early users of Deskspace was a solicitors' practice in Somerset in the South West of the UK. The principal, Adrian Stables, installed a 5 user system in mid 2000. Having used Deskspace to run his practice since then he is extremely happy with the benefits.
This is what he has to say:
"Our practice is split between litigation and non-contentious property work. Since we started using Deskspace, non-contentious bills are sent out immediately the case is completed. It is great - clients now receive my invoice at the peak of their gratitude curve" he said recently.
"With contentious work the big advantage that Deskspace gives now is being able to produce a breakdown of costs, and estimates, for the court or our client, based on time spent, work done and expense records, quickly and easily at the click of a button."
"Deskspace accurately keeps detailed records of work, communications and expense, so that when someone calls and wants a case update any other member of my team can report to the client instantly."
"Since installing Deskspace we have gone from being a small practice using ICT fairly inefficiently on stand-alone machines to making the quantum leap to a fully integrated network solution. I am confident that we have done this at a fraction of the cost we could have done with any other supplier, all with relatively modest turbulence for our business. Our people are relatively inexperienced in computer technology but they got used to running Deskspace quite easily."
Mr. Stables finished "This has been a very positive experience for us and we are happy to recommend Deskspace to other solicitors looking for effective integration of their business information."
